General motors SDM be cloned or VIN change?
Hey everyone, I've got a 2016 Chevy Equinox. Post accident everything was repaired. I had crash data repaired, and was internal faulting B0085 and B0088, swapped out with used SDM and no codes except B1001 for VIN mis-match. The car has Branded title and I cant program a new one with techline connect its blacklisted apparently. Part number 13599654 black plastic SMD. I seen carprog has functionality of the SDM including VIN change option does anyone have experience with it or suggestions?

RE: General motors SDM be cloned or VIN change?
Last I knew blacklisted vins could still have modules programmed, just no reconfigurations like remote start add or foglamps and no support from techline if there were any problems with regular programming..
Sorry to hear if that did in fact change.. |

Yeah, I swapped the SDM into another vehicle and it programmed no problem, put it back in original vehicle and programmed with another vin and it took it, I keep getting connection issues with it only when trying to program that particular VIN. Kinda bull they can do that and make the car non serviceable, but thankfully we can think outside of the box. |

You programmed a used module in another vehicle no problem? or a new one no problem?? If you programmed a new one no problem you would then have a problem trying to program that same module in another vehicle, being global A and the fact that it is an SDM I have doubt's about gm letting any used modules be programmed into another vehicle.. I am sure there are ways to do it but not with gm software for a used module.. In any case I almost suspect you have other issues with the vehicle. Did you note down the programming error codes? it should do the bo beep 3 times and then have an error popup withstep error and failure code. |

I Programmed used SDM's. I've got a new one coming today I'll try. Ive got a 2010 and 2016 equinox. If i put an SDM into the 2016 I can program it with the 2010 vin no problem. So it seems the wiring is no problem. In both cars if i try to program the 2016 VIN it fails 3 beeps |

RE: General motors SDM be cloned or VIN change?
I'm coming up with 2 different part numbers for 2010 and 2016, they do not appear to be interchangeable.. I could be wrong though.. Did you try a used 2016 SDM or just the 2010?
step 8 of a 13587716 utility file for an SDM(no idea if that's yours) is pushing what looks like a write kernel and your error has it failing.. Honestly don't know if that's because of the wrong year module. Honestly I do not know where it would fail trying to write to a used SDM but ECM's and BCM's write just fine but fail at the end trying to write the vin and immo. You could save the cache files by the time and date stamp and extract them and then look at the utility file to see if it's the same.. |

Correct, they were different part numbers, but still allowed me to flash the older ones, even from a junkyard. I've tried flashing both used 2016 and 2010 but the original 2016 would not let me reprogram it either. long lesson to be learned but now I know. |
