Hello all i am new so hope i dont make any errors here.  i have read over 25 pages of threads and not seen this question.  I have an odd version of software in my MMI, car was ordered without nav as maps are not supported for central america.  car has std MIB per audi. one SD slot and DVD/CD slot. current radio firmware is MST2_EU_AU_P9118D.  can does not show smart phone, or any maps options.  but in the engineering menus are may options like CarPlay, google maps, etc they show as res not act.  i assume that means resident but not activated.  my goal is to upgrade firmware to have at least the smartphone option for CarPlay. so than i can use phone interface for maps or WAZE.

i have access to VAGCOM and was going to do the green screen activation but uncertain with my version of MMI software what that will do.

As i am told my car is euro spec (I think they are all build in mexico now anyway for this side of the atlantic) can i upgrade the MMI software to add those no nav features back?

This unit have 1/2 of the resources that same unit with navigation option have.
Less powerful CPU, less RAM.
Best option for this is Smartphone interface and use phone as navigation device.

As I understood newer version for you:

But I am not sure that it will allow you to use Carplay, as I know it isn't firmware issue.

on some russian forum Ive readed before months that unit with navigation after update to fw +/- 1200 (not remember which version), is CarPlay enabled. And someone wrote that after update from version +/- 400 to this "latest" was after CarPlay active. Not remember all details, and sure can be depend on unit type...

It depends .. a lot.
Russians do MIB High modules which are made by Harman.
This here is MIB Scale w/o nav made by Delphi.
