I am still learning and relatively new to tuning. I have slowly been building my collection of tools and software. I started with slave kess and now using

Genuine kess master, genuine ktag master, autotuner, single computer genuine winols, genuine ecm and find myself using ista, esys and non genuine vcds. I have the egr, dpf, lambda software but rarely use it as seen its solutions are not always correct. I also have mtx error removal tool. 

For someone mainly seeing german cars is there any other software I should look into. Id like swiftec but currently can not afford. 

I find ecm is hit and miss, it doesnt identify alot of maps, and in winols my map identification is poor and I have no quick cheap source for map packs or damos. 

Apart from small tweaks I am still buying files and usually am only going through files for learning purposes

You actually havent even started learning yet...once you give up believeing in software as u call it and start doing it manually then u can say you are learning

I have learnt quite abit actually and practise finding maps etc in winols quite alot. I know very little but to say im not learning is very negative especially when i have my head tucked in books, watching videos and studying files in winols most days. I see your point in using software for quick fixes but if a program can do jobs quickly then i want it. I have editted medv17.2.8 files in winols with success so i am happy with my small achievements
