AFAIK config files are considered to be NEITHER intellectual property NOR copyrightable. And AOS conditions of use do NOT prohibit one to edit them specifically. P.S. I'm not a lawyer. P.P.S. Even if you would somehow argue that editing them is somehow magically prohibited, adding keys to a registry on your OWN computer CAN'T be prohibited. |

No matter registry or config manipulated. Exactly. P.S. If you disable FASTA reading you could also disable it's upload to BMW by changing value of this key (key should be there by default): <add key="BMW.Rheingold.RheingoldSessionController.FASTATransferMode" value="None" /> |

"The software (including data) you will download is protected by copyright. Usage of the software is subject to the terms and conditions of the dealer agreement, and is only permitted within the scope of and in order to fulfill the dealer agreement. If the dealer agreement expires or is terminated, the right to use the software automatically ends. Furthermore, you are not allowed to copy, publish or transfer the software to any third party outside your company."
The config file is created by the BMW installer, you cannot modify it, just like the reg entry created by the installer. Vanos Press Thanks and Reputation, if my post helped you. |

RE: AOS Ista possible to deactivate second check after scan?
As I already told AFAIK config file CAN'T be copyrighted, because it's NOT "work of art" like code or executables. Even MORE so for registry entries. And EVEN EVEN MORE so for entries which were NOT created by the installer, but you add yourself!
P.S. If you think config file can be copyrighted, provide a proof of that. |

In the event of a legal dispute in court, do you think this means manipulating the operation of the factory software or not?

If you change printing type in ISTA, it CHANGES registry key "which installer created". So suddenly you ARE allowed to change that key, but only because you do that indirectly? That's BS. Either you can change it or not. |

RE: AOS Ista possible to deactivate second check after scan?
Then we just add the keys to our registery and we suddenly did not modify the config file generated by the installer
