RE: BMW F650gs dme/ecu update
The BMW Part No 7664624 is ECE Program Release 7000 which is prone to surging & stalling & may be Old/New Injector plus either RON 91 or 95 dependent on data component, Program Release 8000 resolves the issues

7000 3608 156026 (0ld Injector) RON 95
7000 3601 155788 (New Injector) RON 95
7000 3606 155788 (New Injector) RON 91

ISTA-P prompts to select Injector & Fuel Type

The attached file has info on all the 650 single model variants & ECU program versions

RE: BMW F650gs dme/ecu update
The injector thats fitted is:.. 0 280 156 026

I have just ordered:........... 0 280 155 788

The  BMS/ECU/DME fitted has these numbers:

WB1 0172A61
7655705
7662070
7655699

Am I correct in thinking I need to flash with new software:
7668133 8000 for ron 95?

RE: BMW F650gs dme/ecu update
Good choice ordering the "new" injector it is a little higher flow rate & yes 7668133 8000 3601 is for RON 95

In the past RON 91 was default fuel in many country areas but RON95 programming is better today

The 650GS single spark firmware is split into 2 files, program & data, which complicates using WinKFPT for updates, ISTA-P is easier with an ICOM

16pin obd2?

then just connect d-can and flash with winkfp or ISTA as Liteace said...

Yes, 16pin obd2 someone has added, that is what I plugged into with ISTA to check what software it has, do I still use the SP daten files for ISTA

Sorry again for all the questions, I dont normally work on BMW's, I flashed once a long time ago an old E46 and nothing more, even with that I had to have T.V running with remote help

Ive flashed F800GS using winkfp. its same procudre as e series flashing. You will need sp daten source. update winkfp files and select the module you want to flash

another question, I have access to ISTA + Icom but only ISTA+ or D, I have a spare w7 laptop, is it worth loading ISTA-p or shall I just use WinKFPT and with a a bit of help from you Guys you can guide me thru the process?

For the older models yes ISTA-P is worthwhile as it prompts you for the right Injector & RON then loads the right files for you plus the testing after programming, makes it a simple process without having to manually select files

ISTA-P also allows change of VIN at the start of a session for single spark 650 which enables easy replacement of BMSC with a used ECU or change of market from US to ECE to eliminate Vent Valve/charcoal filter

ISTA & ISTA-P are also handy for working on the Husky TR650 singles which Husky dealers cant do

RE: BMW F650gs dme/ecu update
ISTA 3.47 is a little old, 4.xx is preferable, 4.30 is the last which runs on W7

You will find links for download on the forum, an example is below, ISTA 4.32 however is for W10, the ISTA-P is OK

https://cartechnology.co.uk/showthread.php?tid=67657

If you search or ask you may find someone has ISTA 4.30, you will only need BLP data unless you want to program later model bikes in ISTA

Post what the error is, without info it is hard to assist

I assume you have all the prerequisites like java, VisC runtimes, .net 4.8 Installed
