Sure, see attached.

When you say do not use WinKFP update function; what, ever? Or in this case?

9316146 if i follow that label.
winkfp update function will flash the last zb for your hw without checking for fa compatibility and istep compatibility, so it will flash a wrong sw in most of cases.

If I try to flash that, I get the error.

I’ll leave it as is, it’s working..

RE: Looking for ZB in which spdaten?
That works, I forgot to say. When I virginised the ECU and default coded it, it was on that ZB, and I tried to ZB update it, which didn’t work.

So I went back through kmm and tried the next ZB back (9283834) and I couldn’t find it in my Daten, and at that point I had a range of problems with that kombi because my soldering on the eeprom wasn’t good enough. So I fixed that, got the kombi working again, and then thought I’ll reflash in case something weird happened during the time the eeprom wasn’t readable. 9242365 flashes absolutely fine.

All this because I retrofitted FLA to an early E90 with old kombi that wouldn’t support FLA, I had to flash the JBBF to get the FLA to be seen, also.

The car is now quite a mongrol of control units (fitted FRM3 for welcome lights and DRLs and future LCI lights eventually) but it’s working well.

And I appreciate your help.

RE: Looking for ZB in which spdaten?
because kmm has referements many to many for that hw, more hw can support many sw, they are only sorted by FA and Istep, two things that winkfp doesn't do. You can use NFS instead, or ista P, or manual kmm search.

RE: Looking for ZB in which spdaten?
I was thinking I can try ista p, I’ve not used it before and figure it might throw a fair old wobble at the car having a CIC instead of CCC, FRM3 instead of FRMFA, and this replacement kombi.

Never tried NFS, never had to, yet! I can always get a replacement kombi if I brick it, and have the original to use whilst I source a replacement. Would you bother?

RE: Looking for ZB in which spdaten?
First of all you have to match the FA with the car and the conditions about your typekey, after that you have to inform NFS for your FA and ISTEP, then it process the car like ista p but only for programming, not for coding. This can't be done if there are conditions not ammitted by typekey like in your case, so only manual kmm. It's like forcing a calculation with esys to get what i expect and not what bmw expects from SVTs, or manual editing an svt to get specific sw flash in tal, same thing.

RE: Looking for ZB in which spdaten?
If there’s any documentation on it I’d love to know, it sounds like something I should make myself aware of.

I’d merrily chugged through all the modules in the car with kfp which whilst seems to have worked, isn’t the right thing. I have tried to check kmm to see that they match my FA, I thought kfp did that. Very helpful to know it’s just basically traversing through the HIS file and matching against HW to find a later ZB in the chain and that’s it?
